Every Man Has A Molly

Well even though it’s still cold for some freakish reason May is right around the corner which means summer. I don’t know about you but when summer rolls around I like upbeat and generally fast music. One genre that fails to disappoint in that department is punk of all types. I’m just going to share a few that shine.

Modern Machines-Huberty (2005)

This tape is upbeat and is for people who want some punk that is less aggressive and more fun. It still keeps with all the punk tendencies but has a nice sunny aspect.

The Grumpies-Tape 1996

This is an older release but sounds like it could be made today. It’s fast and in your face at times but has some songs that are more laid back and will never leave your head. Some of the vocals on this album are weird but will make you laugh at the absurdity of it rather than groan.

Destruye Huye Krea-Odio Tu Kumbia Moderna (Demo 2009)

For those of you waiting for some aggressive, raw, and downright ugly punk, this is for you. Not even a minute into this tape and you feel like moshing wherever you’re at and breaking everything around you. The vocals are in Spanish but don’t let that hold you back from listening because these guys are really impressive.

Harlequin-Demo (2006)

Trying to describe this tape is almost downright impossible. It’s abstract and weird and oftentimes dark. It’s art punk with violins and assorted string instruments. Just listen to it for yourself and decide.

Hysterics-Hysterics 7” (2011)

This was my second favorite punk release of 2011 because of the pure aggressiveness of it. The girl in this album has the ferocity and blood curling scream and vocal style that just stood out and stuck with me. When you listen you just want to press replay. It’s hardcore punk at it’s best.

Crazy Spirit-Demo (2009)

These guys are my favorite punk band making music at the moment. The vocals just stand out from the crowd and remind me slightly of Thee Oh Sees vocalist. Then the instruments are mixed at a great level that it sounds like punk from a horror movie. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played this and I need you to share the love.
